
UB Volleyball Heads To Indiana For Final Non-Conference Weekend

BUFFALO, NY - Winners of five straight matches, the University at Buffalo volleyball team begins their final non-conference weekend tomorrow at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Indiana. The Bulls will play the host Hoosiers in the first match on Friday night.
The Bulls enter the weekend at 7-3 after three wins at the UIC Invitational last weekend. Junior Tahleia Bishop was named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week as she is coming off her second straight MVP weekend. Bishop currently leads the MAC in kills with 149 and kills per set 4.38. She is also currently second on the team with 108 digs. Junior Marissa Prinzbach leads the team with 247 assists, while freshman Niki Bozinoski adds 137 digs.
UB faces Indiana Friday night at 7:00pm and the match will be on BTN Plus for a fee. The Hoosiers are 7-2 on the season, but have lost two of their last three, including its most recent match on Wednesday night at IUPUI, 3-1. Morgan Leach leads the Hoosiers offensively with 117 kills and a .314 hitting percentage. Megan Tallman runs the offense with 414 assists. Defensively, Courtney Harnish has 178 digs and Awele Nwaeze has 34 total blocks.
The Bulls will face Butler on Saturday at 10:00 am. The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-1 weekend where they defeated Robert Morris and Idaho State before falling to host Colorado at the Omni Invite. Belle Obert leads the team with 118 kills and Stephanie Kranda is second on the team with 84 kills. Makayla Ferguson has 354 assists and Jadyn Yarling leads the Bulldogs with 134 digs.
For the second straight week the Bulls will play Western Illinois in a tournament setting. UB swept the Fighting Leathernecks last weekend in Chicago. Western Illinois is 2-8 on the season after posting a five-set win over UIC last weekend. WIU is led by Ann Miller, who has 114 kills and Peyton Crosser, who has 106. Samantha Fournier leads the way with 240 assists, while Molly Murphy leads the team defensively with 168 digs.
Following the weekend, UB will have just one more non-conference match, hosting Niagara on Tuesday night.
