Tahleia Bishop Named MAC East Offensive Player Of The Week

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo junior outside hitter Tahleia Bishop has been named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. The award is the first of the season for a UB player and the second for Bishop in her career.
Bishop was named the Most Valuable Player as she led the Bulls to a perfect 3-0 record and the championship of the UIC Invitational. Bishop capped off the weekend with back-to-back 20-kill performances as she hit .325 over the weekend with 53 total kills on 120 attempts. Bishop had 13 kills and just two errors in the three-set win over Western Illinois and had 20 kills in just three sets in the win over Eastern Kentucky. Overall, Bishop averaged 5.30 kills per set. Defensively, she added 33 digs, including 17 against UIC and 11 against Western Illinois. She also finished with five total blocks, including two solos.
Bishop leads the Bulls with season with 149 kills through the first 10 matches. She is second on the team with 108 digs. Bishop currently leads the MAC and is 22nd nationally in kills per set at 4.38 and points per set at 4.93. Her 149 total kills are also the most in the conference and it is tied for 35th in the nation.
Bishop and the Bulls will return to action this weekend as they head to Bloomington, IN for the Hoosier Classic. UB will face Indiana, Butler and Western Illinois.
