BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, the State University of New York men's basketball team is continuing to climb in the RPI rankings as they are 18th in the rankings released today by the NCAA. RPI Ratings also unveiled their first set of rankings today, which have the Bulls ranked 19th.
UB is currently 5-2 on the season, and have played the last six games on the road, including at top-ranked Kentucky. UB won four of its six games on the road trip.
The Bulls have gotten out to the hot start even with seven new faces on the team this year. UB is being led by junior Justin Moss, who is averaging 16.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, one of just two players in the MAC averaging a double-double. With his 20 points yesterday at Robert Morris, Moss has already surpassed his point total from last season.
Sophomore Shannon Evans is currently averaging 15.1 points per contest and leads the Bulls with 31 assists. Freshman Lamonte Bearden and junior Jarryn Skeee are both averaging over 9.0 points per contest, while senior Will Regan is coming off back-to-back games in double figures.
The Bulls have also gotten a boost off the bench from junior transfer Rodell Wigginton, who is averaging 6.6 points per game, senior Xavier Ford, who is averaging over six rebounds per contest, and junior Raheem Johnson, who leads the Bulls with 11 blocked shots.
According to the NCAA, the Bulls are the only MAC team currently in the top 100 in the RPI with Eastern Michigan coming in at 104 and Akron landing at 109.
The Bulls are off this week for final exams and then will begin a two-game home stand next Tuesday against Drexel.
