BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo, The State University of New York head volleyball coach Reed Sunahara has announced the signing of two individuals for the upcoming 2015 season. Gabriela Maciagowski and Madison Clark both signed National Letters of Intent with the Bulls during the recent signing period.
Maciagowski comes to UB from across the border and is an outside hitter from Etobicoke, Ontario. Maciagowski stands at 6'1" and plays her club volleyball for Leaside. Maciagowski is also a premier beach volleyball player, having finished third at the U23 National Championships.
"Gabi is a very skilled outside hitter," said Sunahara. "She is a physical kid, with good ball control. She is a beach player that understands the game well, which will allow her to play all six rotations. I expect her to come in and make a positive impact on our program"
Clark is a setter from nearby Williamsville South High School, who led the Billies to their first ever Section VI Class B Championship and first ever Class B State Title. Clark was named the Most Valuable Player at the state tournament. Clark is a multi-sport athlete who helped Williamsville South to a Class A title in softball this past spring. Clark plays her club volleyball for the Niagara Fronteir Volleyball Club.
"Maddie will add size and depth to our setting position," said Sunahara. "She has progressed this year and was named MVP at the State Tournament. She has good hands, and with hard work and determination she could develop into one of the best setters that's come through this program."
The Bulls are coming off a 17-15 season during Sunahara's first year as head coach of the Bulls, who clinched a MAC Tournament berth for the first time since 2010.
