
UB Women's Basketball to Host Big 4 Foe St. Bonaventure

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's basketball team returns to play Monday hosting Big 4 foe St. Bonaventure at 7 pm in Alumni Arena.
The Bulls (4-3) return home after four consecutive road games for their final home game of 2014. St. Bonaventure (7-2) owns a 17-8 series advantage over the Bulls dating back to 1968-69. SBU has won the last six meetings, most recently defeating UB 76-71 in overtime on Dec. 17, 2013 at the Reilly Center. The Bulls picked up its last victory during the 2006-07 campaign.
For the year, UB has a field goal percentage of 34.9 and a free throw percentage of 70.8. The Bulls are averaging 67.9 points and 46.0 boards per game. With four double-doubles, sophomore Alexus Malone is posting 13.9 points and 10.0 rebounds a contest. Junior Mackenzie Loesing and senior Kristen Sharkey add 12.3 and 12.1 points per game, respectively. Senior Christa Baccas is contributing 10.7 and redshirt-sophomore Rachael Gregory 9.6 to help guide the balanced UB offense. With 19 on the season, Sharkey leads UB and the Mid-American Conference with 2.7 steals per game. Malone has a team-high 15 assists and sophomore Camera Miley adds 14. Baccas has 10 blocks in three games of play.
The Bonnies are riding a six-game winning streak after opening their season 1-2. Bonaventure tipped off its run picking up victories at Detroit and Penn State, its first win over the Nittany Lions in program history. The Bonnies have since defeated Binghamton and Colgate at the Reilly Center and won the Brown Classic with victories over Drexel and the host Bears. They have three averaging better than 10 points a game, while the team outscores opponents marginally, 58.3-54.1. Katie Healy paces SBU with 12.8 per contest and Nyla Rueter and Hannah Little chip in 10.7 and 10.3, respectively. Little averages a Bonnie-best 7.3 rebounds. Healy has 20 assists and 13 blocks and Rueter adds 17 steals to lead Bonaventure. With the same starting five all season, SBU shoots 39.6 percent from the floor and 73.8 percent at the line.
