
Stellar Paul Short Showing Propels UB Men's XC into Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University at Buffalo men's cross country team ranks 14th in week four of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Northeast Region poll announced Monday. The squad was previously unranked.
The Bulls raced to a 7th-place finish out of 42 teams Saturday at the 41st Annual Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh. Facing several regionally- and nationally-ranked teams, all five of UB's scoring runners placed in the top 70 of a field of 359 runners.
Junior Cameron Bruce paced the Bulls on the 8-kilometer course placing 31st with a career-best time of 24:30, bettering his 2013 performance on the same course by 1:15. Sophomore Barrett Kemp and junior Brian Crimmins shared a time of 24:51, with Kemp placing 54th and Crimmins 58th. Sophomore Alec Peinkofer and freshman Andrew Berge clocked times of 24:53 and 24:56, respectively, earning finishes of 64th and 68th. Sophomore Pier Berkmans and junior Derek Palafox rounded out the Bulls' top seven performances. Berkmans crossed the finish line of the muddy course in 25:37 and Palafox did so in 25:46.
The Bulls return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Princeton Invitational.
