
UB Men's Cross Country Team Earns Program-Best Regional Ranking

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The State University of New York, Buffalo men's cross country team earned a program-best ranking of 11th in week five of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Northeast Region poll announced Monday. The squad most recently ranked 14th in the week four poll.
The Bulls, who competed Saturday at the Princeton Invitational and the Canisius Alumni Classic, edged out their previous program-best regional ranking of 13th set in Oct. of 2011.
UB's top seven raced to a 15th-place finish out of 37 teams in the men's championship race at Princeton. Junior Brian Crimmins paced the Bulls with a 25:06 finish on the eight-kilometer course. He placed 49th out of 301 runners. Sophomore Alec Peinkofer ran 65th and freshman Andrew Berge 66th, both clocking in at 25:18. Freshman Justin Van Epps raced to a 108th-place finish in 25:40 and junior Derek Palafox crossed the finish line in 25:58 good for 141st place. Junior Austin Coneys and sophomore Barrett Kemp ran sixth and seventh, respectively for the Bulls with times of 26:21 and 26:32. Coneys finished 180th and Kemp 196th.
Taking a week off from competition, the Bulls return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the 2014 MAC Championships hosted by Central Michigan.
