BUFFALO, NY - Junior Megan Lipski has been named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. Lipski had one of her best overall weekends as a Bull and she becomes the second different UB player to pick up the weekly honor and the third time this year a Bull has been named Player of the Week.
Lipski led the Bulls to a 1-1 weekend with a victory on the road Thursday night at Akron, before a close four-set loss on Saturday against Ball State. Over the two matches, Lipski hit .442 from her outside hitter position. She led the Bulls with 13 kills in each match, while recording just one and two errors in the two matches, respectively. Lipski had to pick up the load after UB's leader in kills Tahleia Bishop was forced to miss the Akron match. Lipski also did it on the defensive end for the Bulls as she finished with 28 digs over the two matches, including a career-high 19 digs in the four-set loss to Ball State.
Lipski is second on the Bulls in kills with 173 on the season, averaging 2.54 kills per set. She has recorded double figures in kills seven times this year, and this is the second and third times that she has had 13 in a match.
Defensively, Lipski is also second on the team with 190 digs, following her career high 19 digs against Ball State. She has reached double figures in digs eight times this year and she added nine digs in the match against the Zips. Lipski is also second on the Bulls with 18 service aces.
The Bulls continue to play this weekend as they head to Western Michigan on Friday evening at 7:00 pm and Northern Illinois at 8:30 pm on Saturday.
