Bulls Open Spring With 7-0 Sweep Of St. Bonaventure

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team began its spring season on Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of St. Boanventure at the Miller Tennis Center. The Bulls won several matches in straight sets.

In doubles, UB picked up a forfeit at third doulbes, but got 6-1 victories at first and second doubles. Buffalo's numer one team consisted of senior Miranda Podlas and freshman Margarita Kotok, while the second doubles team had senior Marta Stoyanova and freshman Laura Holterbosch.

In singles action, UB picked up forfeit wins at fifth and sixth singles, but then swept their way through victories at the other four spots. Podlas won at first singles, 6-1, 6-2, while senior Anamaria Candanoza won at second singles, 6-1, 6-1. Kotok won her match at third and Laura Fernandez came away with a 6-4, 6-4 win at fourth singles.

The Bulls are back in action next Friday when they head to Cornell for a pair of weekend matches.
