
Men's Cross Country Picked 5th In MAC Preseason Poll; Women Picked 6th

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's cross country team was picked to finish fifth in the 2013 MAC preseason polls, as announced by the Mid-American Conference on Thursday afternoon. The Bulls women's cross country team was picked to finish sixth.
Buffalo returns 11 runners and welcomes eight incoming freshman to a squad that came in fifth place last season at the MAC Championships. Second Team All-MAC performer Zach Ahart returns for his senior campaign while UB newcomer of the Year Austin Coneys comes back for his sophomore season.
In the men's preseason poll, the Bulls finished just ahead of sixth place Kent State and seventh place Ohio with Toledo and Bowling Green wrapping up the top nine. Eastern Michigan was picked to finish first with Central Michigan, Akron and Miami following closely behind in the 2-4 spots.
On the women's side, Buffalo returns 12 runners and welcomes eight freshman to a team that came in seventh place. UB Most Valuable Runner, Kara Patrick and UB Newcomer of the Year, Kaitlin McCadden, look to lead an experienced squad into contention in the MAC throughout the 2013 season.
In the women's poll, UB finished ahead of conference foes Akron, Bowling Green and Kent State. Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Ball State closed out the top 12 for the preseason poll. Toledo was picked to finish first followed by Miami, Ohio, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.
The Bulls 2013 cross country season will open up on Saturday, September 7 at 11 am as the two squads will compete in the Harry Lang Invite in Hamilton, NY.
