BUFFALO, NY - One of the top floor generals over the last decade, Ashley Zuber returns to the Buffalo women's basketball family as she has been named assistant coach, second-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack announced. Zuber, who played her last season in 2010-11, holds the single-game and single-season assist records and is fifth in career assists, despite an injury-plagued career.
"Ashley is a great student of the game and has all the attributes to be a great coach," said Legette-Jack. "To have her return to her alma mater and join her former teammate in Coach [Kourtney} Brown shows the impact that UB can have on a student-athlete's life. Adding our recruiting coordinator Coach Johnson to the mix, I think we have a smart, hard-working and energetic coaching staff that will continue to make this program better."
Zuber graduated with high honors from the physical therapy program at UB this past winter. Zuber went into the physical therapy profession following the completion of her education, but never stayed far away from the game.
As part of one of the most successful classes at UB, Zuber joined the Bulls for the 2006-07 season with Brown. During their senior campaign in 2010-11, Zuber set a school record with 198 assists, leading the Mid-American Conference that year. She also set the single-game and Miami (OH) Millett Hall records with 16 assists on January 12, 2011. The Bulls reached their first ever postseason tournament that season, accepting a berth in the WBI. Zuber finished the year as an Academic All-MAC Selection.
Legette-Jack also announced the addition of Ashley Thompson to her staff as Assistant to the Head Coach.
