BUFFALO, NY- The University at Buffalo men's cross country and women's tennis programs were amongst 976 teams to earn Public Recognition Awards based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rates. This honor is given to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with their APR.
The 2011-12 announcement marks the third straight year the women's tennis team has been honored, while the men's cross country team picks up their first ever APR Public Recognition.
Each year, the NCAA tracks the classroom performance of student-athletes on every Division I team through the annual scorecard of academic achievement, known as APR. The score measures eligibility and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years.
