
UB Women's Cross Country Announces Awards

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's cross country squad announced its team awards for the 2012 season. Head coach Vicki Mitchell and her staff made the following presentations: Kaitlin McCadden was named as Top Newcomer; Katie Sanders earned the Most Improved Award; Sam Beim won the Coaches' Award and Kara Patrick was selected as the Most Valuable Runner.
McCadden appeared in all six of UB's meets during the 2012 season. She set her top 6K time of 22:35 at Lehigh University's Paul Short Invitational as she finished 152nd of 360 runners. She also finished 50th of 104 in 22:53.5 at the Mid-American Conference Championships and 141st of 253 in 22:40.6 at the Northeast Regionals. She placed 13th of 59 at the UB Stampede Invitational.
Sanders raced in all six meets and had her best 6K times in the final two meets of the season. She posted her best time of 22:06.1 at the Northeast Regionals to finish 103rd of 253. She also placed 33rd of 104 at the MAC Championships in 22:32.0. Sanders finished 35th of 59 at the UB Stampede Invitational. Sanders earned UB's Coaches' Award following the 2011 season.
Beim, the team's Most Valuable Runner in 2011, raced in all six meets in 2012. She set her best 6K time of the season at the Northeast Regionals turning in a 21:55.2 clocking to place 92nd of 253. She also finished 32nd of 104 at the MAC Championships in 22:29.6. She also finished 11th of 59 at the UB Stampede Invitational.
Patrick joined the Bulls for the final two meets of the 2012 season and was UB's top finisher in both meets. Patrick posted a 21st-place finish at the MAC Championships in 22:18.7. She set her top 6K time at the Northeast Regionals in 21:35.6 to place 76th of 253.
The Bulls finished seventh among 12 squads at the 2012 MAC Championships, hosted at UB's Beaver Island State Park course and were 15th of 37, their highest finish since 2006, at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Madison, CT.
