
UB Men's Cross Country Announces Awards

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's cross country squad announced its team awards for the 2012 season. Head coach Vicki Mitchell and her staff made the following presentations: Austin Coneys was named as Top Newcomer; Zack Krause earned the Most Improved Award; Zach Ahart won the Coaches' Award and Mike Pressler was selected as the Most Valuable Runner.
Coneys raced in all six of UB's meets during the 2012 season. He set his best 8K time of 25:44 to finish 110th of 212 runners at the Princeton Invitational. He finished 35th among 78 entrants at the Mid-American Conference Championships in 26:01.7.
Krause earned All-MAC Second Team honors at the league championship meet as he finished 14th in a season-best 8K time of 25:22.8. He also finished 63rd of 239 at the Northeast Regionals in a 10K time of 31:42.7 and placed eighth of 80 at UB Stampede Invitational. Additionally, Krause was named to the Academic All-MAC Men's Cross Country team.
Ahart also picked up All-MAC Second Team honors with his ninth-place finish at the MAC Championships in an 8K time of 25:02.4. Ahart also finished 110th of 239 at the Northeast Regionals in 32:36.7 for 10K. During the regular season, he finished second of 80 at the UB Stampede Invite and set his fastest 8K time of season at the Princeton Invitational in 24:48 to finish 23rd of 212. Ahart was also named to the Academic All-MAC Men's Cross Country team following the 2012 season.
Pressler earned All-MAC First team honors as he placed sixth overall in 24:59.9 for 8K. He was also UB's top finisher at the Northeast Regionals finishing 45th of 239 in 31:27.9 for 10K. Pressler set his top 8K time of 24:33 at the Princeton Invitational as he finished 11th overall and was fourth at the UB Stamped Invitational. Pressler was named as the team's Most Improved runner after the 2011 season.
The Bulls finished fifth among nine squads at the 2012 MAC Championships, hosted at UB's Beaver Island State Park course and were 16th of 34 teams at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Madison, CT.
