
Bulls Drop Home Finale To Akron, 6-1

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team fell to Akron 6-1 on Saturday in its final home match of the season. The loss drops UB to 11-4 on the year and 2-4 in conference play. UB heads to the road for its final two matches hoping to secure a spot in the upcoming MAC Tournament.
The Zips took the doubles point as they opened with an 8-1 victory at three. The Bulls came back and won at second doubles as Anamaria Candanoza and Gopika Kapoor won their match 8-5. Despite a highly-contested affair at first doubles, Akron was able to come out with an 8-5 victory to take the doubles point.
All six singles matches went straight sets with Akron winning five of them. The Zips won the first two contests at third singles and then first singles to go up 3-0 before UB got on the board with a win at fourth singles. Kapoor worked out the straight set victory with an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory. Akron won the final three matches for the victory.
The Bulls begin their final road trip next Friday afternoon at Eastern Michigan.
