
UB Winning Streak Halted At Miami

OXFORD, OH - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team had it's 10-match winning streak snapped on Friday afternoon as they lost at Miami, 6-1. The loss drops UB to 10-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Mid-American Conference.
Miami took the doubles point winning all three matches. UB was closest at third doubles when Marta Stoyanova and Laura Fernandez lost 8-6. The loss was compounded by the fact that junior Tanvi Shah was forced to pull out of singles, moving everyone up in the lineup.
The RedHawks won matches at first, second, third, fourth and sixth singles in straight sets while the Bulls picked up a points at fifth singles as freshman Gopika Kapoor won her match, 6-4, 7-5. The injury forced several players to play spots in the lineup that they had not seen all year. Junior Miranda Podlas moved up to first singles for the first time in her career, while Tamara Markovic played at second singles for the first time.
The Bulls will remain on the road tomorrow afternoon when they face Ball State beginning at 1:00 pm.
