
UB Women's Cross Country Named as All-Academic Squad

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's women's cross country teams have been named to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I All-Academic Teams for the 2012 season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced.
The UB women posted a 3.309 GPA for the fall 2012 semester, A total of 200 women's programs were named to the list including 10 members of the Mid-American Conference. This is the fifth consecutive season that the women's team has been included on the list.
For a team to qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
"Our women are the true representation of Student-Athletes. They are in very demanding majors, yet continue to excel in both their academics and athletics. We are very proud of their commitment to academic and athletic excellence," said UB cross country head coach Vicki Mitchell.
The UB women finished seventh of the 12 MAC schools at the league championships, hosted by Bulls, last October. The team also posted a 15th-place finish among 37 programs at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.
