
Bulls Drop Four-Setter At Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, MI – The University at Buffalo volleyball team ended a tough MAC road weekend with a 3-1 loss at Eastern Michigan. The loss drops the Bulls to 16-7 on the year and 4-6 in conference play.
The Eagles took the contest 21-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 as they outhit the Bulls .228 to .142. UB won the opening set 25-21, but was unable to hold on to the momentum, losing the second, third and fourth sets by an identical 25-18 score.
In the opening set, it was tied at 19-19 when the Bulls went on a 5-1 run to take the set, 25-21. The second set was tied at 12-12 when the set ended on a 13-6 run for the Eagles. Eastern Michigan continued its strong play in the third and fourth sets to come away with the victory.
The Bulls were led by three players in double figures in kills led by 15 from senior Christine Fritsche. Sophomore Akeila Lain added 11 kills and classmate Tahleia Bishop added 10. Setters Dani Reinert and Taylor Pritchett each finished with 20 assists, while the Bulls also added three service aces.
Senior Kelly Svoboda finished with a team-high 18 digs, while Bishop added 17 for the double-double. The Bulls had 11.0 total blocks, led by six from Lain and five from Amber Hatchett and senior Carissa McKenna.
The Bulls remain on the road next weekend when they continue their five-match road trip at Kent State.
