UB Women Take Home 4th Place Finish At Princeton Invite; Men Finish 13th

PRINCETON, NJ – The University at Buffalo women's cross country team put in a great showing at the Princeton Invite on Saturday afternoon as they took home a fourth-place finish out of 25 teams. Chrissy Clarkin and Caroline Brown led the way for the Bulls finishing in 23rd and 24th place respectively in a time of 22:20.
The UB men's cross country team also put forth a great effort finishing in 13th place in a field of 30 high caliber division I programs. Zach Ahart recorded the best finish for the Bulls as he came in 12th place overall in a time of 24:13.
The men's team collected 387 points which was good for 13th place overall while Villanova took home the team title with a point total of 23. The UB women's team collected 160 points in their fourth-place effort, just behind third place total of 144 points by La Salle. Duquesne took home the team title with a total of 47 points.
Finishing behind Clarkin and Brown for the UB women was Gabby Leo who came in 25th place in a time of 22:22 and Corinne Birchard came in 33rd place in a time of 22:31. Meagan Hopkins recorded a 55th place finish in 22:53 while Hilary Swartwood came in 73rd place in 23:07 and Meaghan Wessel finished in 123rd place in a time of 23:51.
Following Ahart, Cameron Bruce had a strong finish for the Bulls as he recorded a 39th place finish in 24:44. A pair of freshman, Alec Peinkofer and Pier Berkmans came in 104th and 11th place respectively in 25:25 and 25:33. Freshman Barrett Kemp finished in 121st place in 25:39 while Austin Coneys and Bobby Swick
The Bulls will return to the course on November 2 as they will travel to Bowling Green for the MAC Championships.
