UB Cross Country and Track Sign Three

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo cross country and women's track and field coach Vicki Mitchell has announced the signing of three individuals to National Letters of Intent to attend UB in the fall 2012.
Joining the Bulls will be cross country athletes Brian Crimmins (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) and Tyler Scheving (Middleport, NY/Barker) while Malayah White (Buffalo, NY/Mount St. Mary) will become a member of the women's track and field team.
Crimmins joins the Bulls with great credentials that include setting the Section IV record in the 1,000-meters (2:29.12) and personal bests of 4:12.87 in the 1,600-meters and 1:55.42 in the 800-meters. He also placed eighth at the 2011 New York State Federation Cross Country Championships. Crimmins holds a high school average of 97 and intends to major in pharmacy.
"Coach [Todd] Witzleben and I are excited to have the opportunity to coach Brian and help guide him to his goals including a sub-4:00 mile, conference titles, and beyond," said Mitchell. "He is one of the most promising high school distance recruits to ever sign with the UB Bulls."
Scheving, a Western New York native from Niagara County was a state finalist in the 800-meters at the 2011 New York State Outdoor Track Championships with a personal-best mark of 1:54.31. He plans to pursue a degree in paleontology.
"Coach Witzleben and I are extremely pleased to have the top middle distance runner from Western New York coming to UB," said Mitchell. "We look forward to coaching Tyler to sub-1:50 in the 800-meters and developing him into the premier middle distance runner in the conference."
White holds the Monsignor Martin Association records in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She was a finalist in both events, finishing in the top five, at the 2011 state championships. Mitchell believes that White has tremendous potential for growth as she moves to the collegiate training system.
"I am excited to have the Western New York native joining the Bulls as she will play an integral role in the 4x100-meter relay and 200-meters for the Bulls," stated Mitchell. "Malayah's work ethic and passion will fit perfectly in with our teams. "
