
Bulls Swept By Bobcats

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo volleyball team struggled against Ohio University on Friday evening, falling to the Bobcats, 3-0. Tonight's match began the final weekend of conference play for the Bulls.
Ohio hit .410 for the night, compared to just .130 for UB. The Bobcats led for nearly the entire match, with UB forcing ties on two occasions in the third set. Ohio set the tone early, hitting .483 in the opening set, while Buffalo struggled to hit in the positive.
"I thought we had one of our best weekends last week on the road and I thought we were going to come out tonight a play much better," said head coach Todd Kress. "I give Ohio credit, but we need to play better defense than we did tonight."
The Bulls were led by Liz Scott, who had 11 kills and just three errors on 24 attempts. Junior Dana Musil finished with six kills, while Carissa McKenna and Megan Lipski each had four. Junior Dani Reinert had 23 assists and five digs.
Defensively, junior Kelly Svoboda finished with 12 digs, snapping a streak of five straight matches with 20 or more digs. Freshman Kayla Yingling added 11 digs. UB managed just 2.0 total blocks, led by two block assists from freshman Akeila Lain.
Ohio was led by Kelly Lamberti, who had 15 kills, while Serena Warner and Chelsea Bilger each added nine. Abby Gilleland finished with 46 assists.
The Bulls conclude the 2012 season tomorrow night when they host Kent State at 7:30 pm. The match caps off a UB triple-header, which begins with men's basketball and Noon and football at 3:30 pm.
