Men Sixth, Women Ninth at Princeton Invite

PRINCETON, NJ – The University at Buffalo men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday at the Princeton Invitational. The UB men placed sixth in a 24-team field with 193 points while the UB women finished ninth among 25 squads scoring 252 points.
Mike Pressler was the top men's finisher for the Bulls. Pressler completed the 8K course in 24:33 to finish 11th in a field of 212 individuals. Zachary Ahart finished 23rd in 24:48 with Alex Saavedra taking 37th in 24:58.
In the women's 6K race, Shelby Janutol finished 34th of 219 runners in 22:29. Sam Beim was 44th in 22:40. Kaitlin McCadden finished 55th in 22:48 and Emma Denton finished 62nd in 22:54.
The Princeton meet also included open races as Hilary Swartwood finished second among 69 entrants in the women's 6K event in 23:20 and Graeme Gowland placing 19th of 130 in the men's 8K race in 26:26.
"It was a good day, but we want more," stated head coach Vicki Mitchell. "We need to close the gap from number three to numbers four and five."
The Bulls are at the Cornell Reif Invitational on Friday, October 19 in their next action.
