
UB Men's Cross Country Announces Awards

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's cross country squad announced its team awards for the 2010 season. Head coach Vicki Mitchell and her staff made the following presentations: Zach Ahart was named as Top Newcomer; John Inzina and Dylan Conway both earned the Most Improved Award; Mike Pressler won the Coaches' Award and Ryan Bloom was selected as the Most Valuable Runner.
Ahart raced in three meets in 2010. He raced in both of UB's meets at Penn State, the season-opening Spiked Shoe Invitational, finishing 97th of 193 in 27:52.2 for 5.2 miles, and the Penn State National Invitational, finishing 128th of 266 individuals in a season-best 27:15 for the 5.2 miles. He also raced in the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Madison, CT turning in a 32:27.5 clocking for 10K placing 120th among 229 runners.
Inzina saw action in five meets during the 2010 campaign. He placed 16th as UB's number two finisher at the Mid-American Conference Championships with a season-best 8K time of 25:15.7. Inzina also finished 175th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a 10K time of 33:32.6. Conway also competed in five meets, finishing as UB's top placer in three meets. He finished 27th at MAC Championships in a season-best 8K time of 25:34.9. Conway was UB's second finisher at the NCAA Northeast Regionals as he took 52nd place with a 10K time of 31:22.6. Additionally, both runners were honored as Academic All-MAC cross country selections in 2010.
Pressler competed in five meets. He set his top 8K mark of 26:12.0 at the MAC Championships to place 45th overall. He also turned in a top 10K time of 32:42.7 for 135th place at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
Bloom raced in six meets and was UB's top finisher three times, including both postseason competitions. He earned second-team All-MAC honors with his 13th-place finish at the league championships in 25:09.4, his top 8K mark of the season. He also turned in a 10K time of 31:19.5 to place 48th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
The Bulls finished sixth among nine squads at the 2010 MAC Championships in Kalamazoo, MI and were 17th of 35 teams at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Madison, CT.
