Bulls Sweep Past Ball State, 7-0

MUNCIE, IN – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team won its second straight 7-0 decision, defeating Ball State on Friday afternoon. The victory clinched the seventh seed for the Bulls in the upcoming conference tournament.
The Bulls swept through doubles play, winning all three contests. At first doubles Diana Popescu and Miranda Podlas defeated Dena Boulieris and Georgina Thomson, 8-2. At second singles Aleksandra Petrova and Kira Golenko defeated Kylee Johnson and Sarah Hebble, 8-3. UB completed the doubles sweep at third doubles as Marta Stoyanova and Shelby Bates defeated Kristel Sanders and Lauren Pickrel, 8-6.
In singles play, UB swept through the six matches. Popescu defeated Thomson in straight sets at first singles, 7-5, 6-2. Petrova picked up the win at second singles as she defeated Sanders, 7-5, 3-6, 10-6. Stoyanova won her match at third singles over Hebble, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, while Golenko won her match at fourth singles over Boulireis, 6-3, 6-2. The Bulls concluded the sweep as Tamara Markovic won her match at fifth singles over Pickrel, 6-4, 6-4, while Podlas took her match at sixth singles over Johnson, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.
The Bulls conclude play in the regular season tomorrow afternoon at Miami as they face the RedHawks at 1:00 pm.
