
Bulls Hit The Road For MAC Play This Weekend

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team looks to play their first conference games in almost two weeks as they hit the road for four games this weekend. The Bulls will face Miami on Friday afternoon and then have a weekend series at Ball State.
The Bulls enter the weekend with a 9-26 record, but a 4-4 mark in MAC play. UB had its only MAC games last weekend cancelled due to weather. Sophomore Alyssa Ward leads the team in batting at .312, while junior Kristin Waldron is second on the team in hitting at .292. Waldron also leads the Bulls in at bats and hits, having hit nearly .500 in conference play to date. On the mound, freshman Tori Speckman has a 4-1 record in MAC games with a 1.88 ERA.
Miami is 19-17 on the season and 4-6 in the MAC. The RedHawks have three players hitting over .300 led by Kayla Ledbetter, who is hitting .329 with a team-high 14 RBIs. In the circle Miami is led by Jessica Simpsons, who is 17-11 with a 1.63 ERA. Simpsons has struck out 210 batters in 197.2 innings of work.
Ball State enters the weekend with a 27-17 record and a 7-3 mark in MAC play. The Cardinals have six players hitting .300 or better, including two players that are hitting better than .380. Alyssa Collins is batting .389, while Alicia Barkley is hitting .382. Jennifer Gilbert leads the Cardinals with 40 runs batter in. Audra Sanders has a 14-10 record in the circle for Ball State with a 2.81 ERA and 113 strikeouts.
UB's doubleheader against Miami will begin at 1:00 pm tomorrow and they will then play Ball State at 2:00 pm on Saturday and 1:00 pm on Sunday.
