BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's men's and women's cross country teams have been named to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I All-Academic Teams for the 2010 season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced.
The UB men compiled an overall grade point average of 3.07 while the UB women posted a 3.36 GPA. A total of 152 men's programs and 192 women's programs were named to the list.
For a team to qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
"The men and women focus on their academics and make it a priority to perform well," said UB cross country head coach Vicki Mitchell. "Both teams displayed discipline with their training and desire for success in racing as well as with studies. I am very proud of their accomplishments."
The UB men placed 17th in a 35-team field while the UB women finished 26th among 35 programs at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at Hammonassett State Park in Madison, CT.
