Titus Robinson Named Coach Leonard T. Serfustini Sportsmanship Award Winner

BUFFALO, NY – Titus Robinson, a senior forward on the University at Buffalo men's basketball team, has been selected as the first recipient of the Leonard T. Serfustini Sportsmanship Award.
Named in honor of Serfustini, Buffalo's men's basketball head coach from 1956 to 1970, the award is presented to the UB men's basketball player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship as defined by Coach Serfustini's teaching and coaching philosophy. These principles include playing fairly, respecting, caring about, and helping others, exhibiting honesty, truthfulness, humility, intense competitiveness, and a great work ethic, exhibiting self-control and a positive attitude, while being a great team player, leader and role model.
"Titus is a great team player who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship over his entire basketball career with UB," head coach Reggie Witherspoon said. "He handles adversity and challenges well. He is on track to graduate in four years and is the most polite, well-mannered and respectful guy you will ever meet."
Robinson's selflessness and team-first attitude couldn't be more apparent than this season when after starting 86 games over the first three years of his career, he was asked to come off the bench. The Charlotte, NC native has responded by having the best season of his career. He is averaging a career-best seven points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He has also been elected as one of the team's three captains this season.
The award will be given out yearly to a men's basketball player selected by the UB coaching staff.
