Dylan Conway Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's cross country runner Dylan Conway has been named the Mid-American Conference's Male Scholar Athlete of the Week. The league announced the weekly award winners this morning from its headquarters in Cleveland.
Conway, a senior mechanical engineering major with an overall grade point average of 3.976, was UB's top finisher at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on September 30. Conway finished the 8K course in 25:31 to place 96th among 402 runners. Racing in the Gold Division, the highest of the three divisions at the meet and taking on some of the country's best programs, the Bulls placed 23rd of 45 teams. Earlier this week the men's team was rewarded with a 15th-place regional ranking by the USTFCCCA.
Following the 2010 cross country season, Conway was named to the Academic All-MAC team. He finished the 2011 spring semester with a 4.0 GPA.
"Dylan's commitment to both his academic and athletic success has been extremely consistent and at the highest level," said UB cross country coach Vicki Mitchell. "His receipt of the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week is extremely well earned."
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
UB's cross country teams are idle this weekend. The Bulls travel to the Penn State National Meet on October 15.
