BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo volleyball team will host its annual Dig For The Cure event during Saturday night's match against Northern Illinois at 6:00 pm. All proceeds from the night will benefit the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
In addition to the match there will be numerous events taking place as part of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There will be raffles taking place, including a special raffle for senior Abby Niekmap's game-worn Pink jersey. All of the players will be wearing pink uniforms for the night.
The first 100 people in attendance will get a free pink rally towel as well as pink cotton candy. Also in attendance will be A Head Of Class, offering to paint nails pink for $3.
For the second season, the volleyball team is partnering with the WeCanRow program, which has been affiliated with UB Athletics for more than two years now. WeCanRow-Buffalo, NY has teamed up with the University at Buffalo Women's Rowing Team to offer a recreational novice rowing program. Members can learn how to build a healthier lifestyle through a rowing program with female cancer survivors who are in different phases of survivorship.
The Dig For The Cure event is in its fourth season at Buffalo and is held all around the country by volleyball programs in all divisions, helping promote breast cancer awareness and helping raise funds for research.
