
Bulls Fall to Cardinals in Opening Round of MAC Tournament

AKRON, OH – After a lengthy rain delay, the University at Buffalo softball team battled the Ball State Cardinals in the opening round of MAC Tournament play. The Bulls dropped the game, 7-0, as they now look to the next round of games, which are set to take place tomorrow night.
The Cardinals scored a run in the bottom of the second and third innings and added three more in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the game. The Cardinals scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.The Bulls would never score and couldn't put a hit on the board as Ball State's pitcher Elizabeth Milian pitched a no-hitter. The Bulls were plagued by errors, and struggled to produce offense against a tough Ball State squad. The Buffalo defense stranded seven batters on base throughout the game, but still gave up six earned runs, in the 7-0 loss.
Terese Diaz started on the mound for the Bulls, pitching the first 3.2 innings before being relieved by Sharon Barr, who pitched the remaining 2.1. They combined for five strikeouts.
The Bulls will face the loser of the Northern Illinois vs. Miami (OH) game, tomorrow, Thursday, May 13. First pitch is slated for 7:30 pm at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
