Bulls Fall Short at Ohio

ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team wrapped up their weekend of play at Ohio this afternoon, falling to the Bobcats, 5-3. Alex Bejarano led the offense for the Bulls, hitting a two-run home run in the fourth inning to earn two RBIs.

The first two innings were scoreless for both teams until the Bulls put up an unearned run in the top of the third inning. Kristen Gallipanisingled to start off the inning. Ashley Bertot reached on a Bobcat error and both runners advanced on the throw. Kristin Waldron grounded out, but earned the RBI as Gallipani scored, giving the Bulls a brief 1-0 lead. The Bobcats answered in the bottom of the third, scoring a run of their own to tie the score. Buffalo scored two more in the top of the fourth to regain the lead. With Alyssa Ward on base, Bejarano slammed a shot over the left field fence to collect her second home run of the season. Ohio's Lauren Gellerman hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to bring the Bobcats within one, but a three-run fifth inning sealed the win for Ohio, as they went on to win 5-3.

The Bulls will return home to host a doubleheader against local rival Canisius on Wednesday, April 28. The first pitch will be thrown at 3:00 pm at UB's Nan Harvey Field.
