CONWAY, SC – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped their final game of the weekend at the Coastal Carolina Classic, falling to Houston Baptist, 3-0. The Bulls now stand at 8-16 overall.
The Bulls could only rally one hit in the game, compared to the
Huskies' six hits. Kristin
Waldron singled up the middle on the first play of the
game. Jaime
Sheffler was hit by the pitch on the next play and both
batters advanced on an illegal pitch to put runners at second and
third. Alyssa
Ward walked to load the bases but the Huskies' defense
stranded all three Buffalo batters to prevent the score. The
Huskies scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and added
an insurance home run in the bottom of the sixth to ensure the
win.
Sharon Barr pitched the complete game, striking out four batters. The start was her 16th of the season and 64th of her career, which ties the UB all-time record for career starts for a pitcher.
The Bulls will play closer to home this week, as they travel to Syracuse for a mid-week game against the Orange. The Bulls will play on Wednesday, March 24 at 3:00 pm at Syracuse's SU Softball Stadium.
