SYRACUSE, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped a pair of games to Syracuse this afternoon, falling to the Orange 3-2, in game one and 8-0, in the nightcap, bringing their record to 8-18 overall.
In game one of the afternoon, Buffalo scored first, putting up two runs in the top of third inning as Dominique Carcone, Kristin Waldron and Alyssa Ward all singled. The Bulls were able to capitalize on a pair of Syracuse errors and an RBI from Ward to earn the runs. Syracuse bounced back and bettered the Bulls' score, earning three runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth. The Bulls had a chance to tie it up in the top of the seventh with a double from Kristen Gallipani but the Syracuse defense stranded the batter and ended the game.

Kate Kraus earned the start on the mound, striking out five batters in 3.1 innings of work. Sharon Barr pitched the final 2.2 innings, adding a strikeout to the count. The Bulls were only able to put up one hit in the second game, with Waldron hitting a single in the opening inning of the game. That would be it for Buffalo, as the Orange went on to score at least one run in every inning except the third, to end it in five innings. The Buffalo defense stranded seven batters throughout the game, but Syracuse was still able to rally eight runs, as they closed the game with a three-run home run by Veronica Grant in the bottom of the fifth.
