Buffalo Opens Extended Road Trip Against Temple

PHILADELPHIA, PA - After back-to-back home games to open the regular season, the Buffalo Bulls women's basketball team will travel to Philadelphia for a matchup against the Temple Owls. Led by reigning MAC defensive player of the year and All-MAC first team member Kourtney Brown, the Bulls enter the game with a 1-1 record.
Brown is averaging team highs of 28.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and three blocks per game, including a career-high 34 points with 16 rebounds against Cleveland State. The Buffalo offense has also seen a boost from junior guard Brittany Hedderson, who has pitched in 15 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game at this early point in the season. The game will be a homecoming of sorts for head coach Linda Hill-McDonald, who spent the 1980s building the Owls into a power, including the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1989.
Temple boasts five players who average eight points or more per game, topped by guard Qwedia Wallace's 22.5 points per game. The Owls' defense has been its achilles heel so far this season, yielding 78 points per game after two contests. The team opened its season with losses against seventh-ranked Ohio State and Big East member Seton Hall.
Temple, a member of the Atlantic 10 conference, came just a shot or two away from winning the conference title last season over Xavier and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament before losing to eventual champion Connecticut. Game time is set for 7:00 pm tonight.
This will be the first of two weekend match-ups for the Bulls, who will travel down the road to Lewisburg, PA to face the Bucknell Bisons on Sunday afternoon. The Bisons are also 1-1 and are coming off a disappointing loss to Fordham Wednesday night.
