Bulls Look to Win Second Straight Home Game Saturday Against Towson

BUFFALO, NY - The 1-1 Buffalo Bulls men's basketball team will return home seeking its second home win of the season this Saturday and will take on the Towson Tigers of the Colonial Athletic Association. The team looks to rebound from a loss to Youngstown State Tuesday night and win its first two true home games of the season since 2007-08.
Tuesday night, the Bulls offense was slowed down by fouls, turnovers and sub-par free throw shooting, losing to the Youngstown State Penguins 64-53. Both Byron Mulkey and Mitchell Watt fouled out as the two teams combined for 47 fouls on the night. Buffalo was unable to take advantage of the foul-prone Penguins, missing 18 total free throws. Dave Barnett and Jawaan Alston were Buffalo's bright spots, with each player chipping in 13 points. Alston added eight rebounds and a pair of blocks as well.
The Towson Tigers also enter the game with a 1-1 record and is coming off a 89-74 win over Coppin State Tuesday night. Towson opened the season with fellow MAC member Miami (OH), losing 60-57 in a game that was close from start to finish.
Through two games, the Tigers boast three players who are averaging 11 points or more per game. Rashawn Polk leads the way with 19 points per game, including 29 against Coppin State. Isaiah Philmore (16.5) and Troy Franklin (11.5) are also key members of the offense.
In the all-time series, the Bulls trail Towson 1-3, with the last meeting coming last season. The game went to overtime but Buffalo prevailed to snap a three-game losing streak on the Tigers' home court. Rodney Pierce led the team with 18 points in a 78-69 win where three other Bulls also reached double figures.
Tipoff Saturday is set for 7:00 pm.
