Cross Country Teams Complete Season at Northeast Regionals

MADISON, CT – The University at Buffalo men's and women's cross country programs wrapped up the 2010 season on Saturday at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at Hammonassett State Park in Madison, CT. The UB men placed 17th in a 35-team field with 459 points while the UB women finished 26th among 35 programs with 754 points.
In the men's race, held at 10K, UB's top finisher was senior Ryan Bloom. Bloom completed the course in 31:19.5 to finish 48th among 229 racers. Junior Dylan Conway was right behind Bloom in 52nd place finishing in 31:22.6.
Also finishing for the men, Jacob Hagen was 107th in 32:16.2. Zach Ahart was 120th in 32:27.5. Mike Pressler finished 135th in 32:42.7 and John Inzina was 175th in 33:32.6.
For the UB women, sophomore Sam Beim led the team with a 22:43.2 showing in the 6K race. Beim finished 141st in a 247-racer field as the Bulls top five runners all finished within 25 seconds of each other.
Katie Sanders was UB's second finisher in 22:57.7 for 147th place while Brittany Chilson finished 151st in 23:00.7. Emma Denton placed 160th in 23:06.4 with Kelsey Fitzgerald finishing in 23:09.7 for 165th place to round out the scorers. Christine Sprehe finished 200th in 23:55.7 and Becky Martin was 227th in 24:53.1.
With the cross country season concluded, the Bulls distance runners will now focus on the indoor track season with the first meet, the Doug Raymond Invitational, slated for January 15, 2011.
