Bulls Fall To Top-Ranked Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, PA - The University at Buffalo volleyball team had a hard time with top-ranked Penn State on Friday night, falling to the two-time defending national champion Nittany Lions, 3-0, at Recreation Building on the opening night of the Nittany Lion Invitational. The Bulls played in front of an announced attendance of 2,003, the largest crowd the Bulls have ever played in front of.
The Nittany Lions hit .702 for the match, recording their first hitting error at match point. The Bulls fought tough throughout the contest as they were led by Kelsey Lueders who had five kills and just two errors on ten total attacks, hitting .300 for the match. Dani Silvers added four kills and Marisa Hornbaker added three. Junior Lindsey Schlegelrecorded 13 assists.
Penn State was led by 10 kills from Megan Hodge. Alyssa D'Errico added five service aces, while Alisha Glass had a match high 26 assists.
The Bulls continue play at the Nittany Lion Invitational on Saturday as they face Pittsburgh at 1:00 pm and Robert Morris at 4:00 pm. Pitt defeated RMU in today's early match, 3-0.
