Bulls Fall At Ohio, 3-0

ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo volleyball team hit the road for the first of three straight matches, but fell on Friday night to MAC East-leading Ohio, 3-0, at the Convocation Center. The loss drops UB to 15-12 on the season and 5-8 in the MAC.
The Bobcats took the match 25-18, 25-15, 25-20 as they hit .444 for the match, opposed to just .179 for the Bulls. UB showed fight throughout the match, keeping the first set tight early and in the third set, UB came back from a 20-12 deficit to make things closer in the 25-20 final margin.
"I thought we played well and brought a lot of energy, but we just ran into a buzz saw in Ohio tonight," said head coach Todd Kress. "I was extremely impressed with the way they played and they look poised to make another run this year. We need to execute a little better and regroup quickly as we have a very important match tomorrow night at Kent."
Dani Silvers led the way with 10 kills for the Bulls, while junior Kristin Bignell added nine kills. Kelsey Lueders and Marisa Hornbaker each added five kills on the night. Lindsey Schlegel had 26 assists, while freshman Tori Beckman led the team with 14 digs, while recording a service ace.
Ohio was led by 18 kills from Ellen Herman and 11 kills from Sue Jacobi. Michelle Jantsch added 37 assists and 11 digs on the night.
The Bulls remain on the road tomorrow night as they head to Kent State for a key matchup in the MAC East with the Golden Flashes. The match begins at 7:00 pm.
