TOLEDO, OH – Freshman Tori Beckman was honored by the Mid-American Conference and the league's coaches on Thursday night as she was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team. Beckman is second in school history in single-season digs with 530 and is just 15 away from tying the school record.
Beckman was the two time recipient of the MAC Defensive Player of the Week as she had a career-high 36 digs in a win over Western Michigan, UB's quarterfinal opponent on Friday night. Beckman also became the first UB freshman to be named to the Collegiate Volleyball Update Top Performer's List following that performance.
"Tori has had a huge impact on this team this year," said head coach Todd Kress. "I am thrilled for her and it is a very deserving reward. She has been the difference in a lot of our matches and it is nice for her to get this recognition."
Beckman was joined on the All-Freshman Team by Jessica Brown from Western Michigan, Toledo's Sandra Payrs, Rachel Iaquaniello from Eastern Michigan, Allison Kearny from Bowling Green and Meredith Pakert from Kent State.
