Julia Kurowski joined the UB coaching staff in August of 2024 after playing internationally in France and Sweden. The Colgate graduate played for the Raiders for five seasons where she helped the Raiders to an 88-41 (.682) overall record. Colgate appeared in three postseason tournaments including two NCAA Tournaments in 2021 and 2022. In 2019, the Raiders reached the Quarterfinals in the NIVC.

A Lancaster, N.Y. native, she earned many honors with the Raiders. Kurowski was a four-time First-Team All-Patriot League honoree to go along with her three Patriot League Setter of the Year honors.

In her first year at Buffalo, Kurowski helped the Bulls reach their third consecutive MAC Tournament with a 12-6 conference record.

“Julia was one of the first people I thought of when adding an assistant for this year,” stated Head Coach Scott Smith. “Her playing background and personality perfectly complements our staff, and she relates so well with the players. While she will work mainly with our setters in the gym, she has already shown herself to be a strong role model for the rest of the team. We are blessed to have such a great coach from the local area assisting the team this fall!”
