2011-12: Went 12-14 for the season, including three dual meet wins... won seven matches by fall, with two coming in duals... won two matches at the UB Open (11/6)... won two matches at the Nittany Lion Open (12/4)... earned dual meet wins over Niagara County CC’s Dwann Hall, Binghamton’s Derek Steeley, and Rider’s Chuck Zeisloft... finished third at the New York State Collegiate Championships, winning four matches (three by fall) (1/22).
2010-11: Took over the starting role halfway through the season… went 16-21 overall and 3-9 in duals…excelled at pinning his opponent, leading the team with three falls in dual meets and 11 falls overall… tied for the team lead in reversals, with four… recorded two wins by fall and went 3-1 overall at the Penn State Open (12/5)… pinned Chuck Zeisloft of Rider in just 59 seconds (1/7)… pinned Bijan Banks twice in just over a week, the first 1:25 in at the Virginia Duals and the second coming at 1:02 in the first period of the team’s dual, a pin that ultimately helped Buffalo down the Fighting Scots (1/8, 1/16)… placed seventh in the ‘A’ bracket of the New York State Championships, going 3-2 (1/23)… lost four duals in conference play by two points or fewer, with two coming in sudden-victory overtime.
2009-10: Wrestled almost 40 times but was redshirted... finished fifth on the team with 21 wins for the season... finished sixth at the UB Open, third at the East Stroudsburg Open, third at the Niagara County Community College Open and fourth at the Edinboro Open.
High School: Six-year letterwinner and two-time captain for coach Brian Quick at Palmyra Macedon High School... posted a career record of 232-34... as a senior, posted an overall record of 46-2 at 125 pounds... set the Red Raiders’ record for most career wins (232), most team points in a season (160) and most career pins (144)... five-time sectional champion... three-time New York State qualifier... second-place finish at 2009 New York State Championships... third-place finishes at 2007 and 2008 New York State Championships... honored as first-team All-League in the Finger Lakes Region in 2007, 2008 and 2009... finished in eighth-place at NHSCA Senior Nationals as an All-American.
Personal: Born March 3, 1991... son of Stephen and Cindy Walton... has a brother, Matt... also recruited by Edinboro, Clarion, Virginia and Binghamton... enjoys hanging out with friends, fishing, playing his PS3 and riding motorcycles and ATVs... favorite movie is The Boondock Saints... favorite quote is “The greatest challenge in you is the battle within yourself”... chose to attend UB for the atmosphere, appearance of the campus, coaches, great facilities and quality of education.
