Cathey returns to Buffalo as an assistant coach with the women's indoor team after spending the 2013-16 seasons with the track & field program as a jumper.
While at UB, Cathey specialized in the triple jump event, collecting a seventh place finish in the event at the 2016 MAC championships.
Cathey is a native of nearby Rochester, NY, where he was a two-year team captain at Edison Tech High School. Cathey was a Section five outdoor champion in the triple jump as a senior, and also finished in fifth-place at the New Balance nationals in the triple jump.
