Jhad Jones joined the Bulls' coaching staff ahead of the 2023-24 season, overseeing the sprints, hurdles, and relay events for the men's and women's programs.
In 2025-26, the Bulls' sprints program had a historic campaign. The team rewrote the program's all-time top 10 record book with 24 performances, joining the ranks between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Michael Parks headlined for the Bulls, winning Mid-American Conference titles in both the 60-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles. Parks' championship 60-meter hurdles time of 7.83 seconds was a new program record. He also set a new 110-meter hurdles program record at Cornell with a time of 13.72 seconds. The senior went on to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds, becoming the first hurdler to qualify for the Bulls since 2018.
Through his first two seasons in Buffalo, Jones' student-athletes won three MAC Championships in their respective events and posted five top three finishes at conference championships. The Bulls also added 21 new program top 10 performances in sprinting and hurdles events.
Jones came to Buffalo from Southern Arkansas University where he served as the assistant coach for sprints, hurdles, and jumps for two seasons. Under his tutelage, Jones' athletes set new school records and reached NCAA provisional qualifying standards.
Prior to Southern Arkansas, Jones led the sprinters and hurdlers at Cal Lutheran University to two NCAA qualifiers, one All-American, and numerous top-10 marks over a two-year span.
At the Junior College level, Jones coached Moorpark College of California from 2016–2021, overseeing the sprinters and hurdlers, and the strength and conditioning program for the team. He led his athletes to numerous personal best marks, school records, and All-Americans honors.
Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Jones coached 10 years at North Hollywood High School developing the sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers. Each stop in his coaching career has resulted in his student-athletes setting program records, earning titles, and succeeding in the classroom.
A native of California, Jones earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Sports Studies from California State University, Northridge. He holds USATF Level 1 certification, as well as Level 2 in Jumps and Level 2 in Sprints/Hurdles/Relays.
