2014-15: Ionescu posted a 15-14 singles record as a senior, playing in the top half of the lineup for the Bulls...he won his lone first-singles match in 6-2, 6-2 fashion against Colgate...went 3-3 at second singles...teamed with three different partners to post a 7-8 doubles record.
2013-14: Ionescu was named to the All-MAC Second Team after a standout junior season...compiled a 12-10 singles record highlighted by an 8-4 performance at the number two position...went 11-8 in doubles action including a 9-5 showing at third singles...helped UB claim the doubles point in the MAC championship match teaming with Pablo Alvarez to defeat Ball State''s third doubles pair, 8-5...named MAC Singles Player of the Week on March 21 after going 2-0 with wins over Central Florida and Illinois State.
2012-13: Joined the team for the spring season and made an instant impact, going 9-6 at third singles with a pair of wins over MAC opponents...competed in three different doubles pairings, and earned a win with each team...defeated Western Michigan’s Aaron Wong in a thrilling three-set affair, winning 7-6 (7-2), 2-6, 6-2 to provide the clinching point of a 4-3 team win over the Broncos, the first dual win ever for the Bulls against Western on April 5.
2011-12: Played as a freshman at the University of Arizona.
High School: Attended "Nicolae Iorga" Theoretical High School in Braila, Romania...earned honorable mention honors in 2010-11...named to all-district team in Braila...named MVP in many Romanian tournaments, winning five national singles, four national doubles and three national mixed doubles titles...won the 14 and under division of the European Championship for Development in Estonia Balkan Championships with the Romanian Team...named best player in Romania in his age group from 2002 to 2010 and was named a member of the Official Romanian Team by Romanian Tennis Federation...named most valuable multi-sport athlete by his high school...also competed in handball where he was named MVP of Braila in 2010 and 2011
