Hoof Prints: Strong offensive lineman with good blocking skills...great combination of speed and strength...Entering third season as starter.
Junior (2012): Was a pillar of the offensive line, which proved that it isn’t who has the ball in his hands, but rather who is clearing the way for him... started in all 12 games... despite injuries to a handful of key offensive playmakers for much of the season, he helped lead a group that improved the team’s total offensive yardage from 2011 and helped pave the way for 2,120 rushing yards... three separate Bulls were able to surpass the 500-yard rushing mark... earned the team’s Offensive Line UBelieve Award.
Sophomore (2011): Played in seven games, starting the last four of the season, beginning against Temple.
Freshman (2010): Appeared in seven games, starting one... earned his first career start against Temple (10/23).
High School: Overpowering blocker in high school who helped his team to back-to-back state titles while pulling off the rare occurrence of twice earning New York State Class C Player of the Year honors as a lineman…twice was recognized with Western New York’s “Trench Trophy,” symbolic of the best interior lineman in Section VI…twice named first-team All-WNY and first-team All State…was the state defensive MVP of the playoffs as a junior…a strong, physical, athletic interior lineman according to UB coaches…the Trojans under Jay Sirianni were 42-4 with Carlson in the lineup over four years…also lettered in basketball and track and field.
