Hoof Prints: Has started games as a freshman and a junior... was the first true freshman to start at quarterback since Drew Willy in 2005...versatile, physical quarterback who is an equal threat to run or pass... comes from a football pedigree as his father Mike starred at Penn State and with the Philadelphia Eagles, while his brother Michael played at Penn State.
Junior (2012): Started in the team’s first eight games of the season... remained one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the conference, rushing for 501 yards (5.0 yards per carry) and a touchdown while throwing for 1,245 and nine more scores... ran for 67 yards or more in five of his eight games played... rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown and threw for 148 yards and a touchdown in the season opener at Georgia... tied a Division I-A record with four touchdown passes in a blowout win over Morgan State (9/8)... rushed for 76 yards and threw for 220 yards and a score against Connecticut (9/29)... ran 19 times for 110 yards, making him the first quarterback in UB’s Division I-A era to run for 100 yards or more, and also threw for a score on the road at Ohio (10/6)... ran for 79 yards and threw for 165 more against Pittsburgh (10/20)... already had 67 yards rushing and 118 yards passing before being injured against Toledo (10/27).
Sophomore (2011): Served as the team’s backup quarterback, appearing in four games... completed five of 12 passes for 41 yards.
Freshman (2010): Showed great promise at quarterback as a true freshman before an injury ended his season... made four starts and saw action in five games total, throwing for 428 yards and a touchdown in that time... was even more dangerous in the running game, averaging 30 yards per game and rushing for two touchdowns... passed for a season-high 210 yards and rushed for a touchdown on 16 attempts against Miami (OH) (10/30)... led the team in rushing yards after picking up 59 yards on 20 carries at Ohio (11/4)... threw for a touchdown and ran for a score against the Bobcats... despite leaving the game early with an injury, he rushed four times for 30 yards against Ball State (11/12).
High School: Quarterback of one of the top high school teams in the nation, serving as captain and leader of Cardinal Mooney’s state champion (15-0) powerhouse…UB coaches were impressed by how he manages the game and call him a tough, physical, smart player with a strong arm…despite a strong running game under coach P.J. Fecko, he ranked #102 among all dropback quarterbacks in ESPN rankings.
