BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team claimed both Mid-American Conference weekly honors, the league office announced on Monday. Sophomore Maria Glowacka earned MAC Singles Player of the Week and the doubles pairing of Glowacka and Esmee Andresen were named MAC Doubles Team of the Week.
It is the first weekly honor for both Andresen and Glowacka as well as the team this season.
Glowacka had a solid weekend as she went 2-0 in her singles matches to lead UB to a 1-1 record. On Friday, Glowacka won 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles to help lead UB to a 7-0 sweep of Horizon League runners-up Cleveland State. She followed that up with another solid performance on Saturday as she earned a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 victory over Cornell. The Torun, Poland native is now an impressive 12-2 in dual action this season.
