
Eight Bulls Earn All-MAC Honors Following MAC Indoor Championships

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Mid-American Conference announced postseason awards for the indoor track and field season following last weekend's MAC Indoor Championships in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Eight athletes from the University at Buffalo track and field program were named to the All-MAC teams.
Zahra Amos earned All-MAC First Team honors for the third time. Amos won the women's high jump at her third straight MAC Championship, doing so at the indoor and outdoor championships last year. The senior broke her own school record mark (1.80m) with a new personal best of 1.81 meters.
Tal Hamel earned All-MAC First Team honors for the first time. Hamel earned his first MAC gold medal, winning the 200-meter with a time of 21.45. The senior's first-place finish marked the sixth MAC medal of his career. Hamel qualified for the finals with a time of 21.39, two-tenths of a second shy of his personal record that ranks second in UB indoor history. The senior also qualified for the 60-meter finals, taking sixth (6.87).
Michael Parks was named All-MAC First Team for the first time in his career, winning the men's 60-meter hurdles event with a finals time of 8.05 seconds. The junior's finals was two-hundredths of a second shy of his personal record that ranks fourth all-time in UB indoor history. Parks' gold medal was his first MAC medal.
Vincent Guaresimo, Aidan Norris, Fernando Sanchez and Collin Stafford earned All-MAC First Team honors for their win in the men's distance medley relay. The four combined to finish the event with a time of 10:00.84. Guaresimo, Norris and Stafford are all freshmen.
Kevin Gabalski rounded out the program's honorees being named All-MAC Second Team for his second-place finish in the men's heptathlon. The senior set a new personal record of 5,246 to rank fifth all-time in UB indoor history. The podium placement marked Gabalski's fourth MAC medal of his career. The senior later added, taking third place in the 60-meter hurdles event to bring home bronze and join Parks on the podium to give the Bulls two of the three medals in the event.
