Bulls Complete Weekend Sweep With 5-2 Win Over UIC

BUFFALO, NY – The University at men's tennis team completed the weekend sweep with a 5-2 win over UIC on Saturday afternoon at Miller Tennis Center. With the win, the Bulls improve to 4-1 in conference play.
The Bulls started strong, sweeping doubles action as Daniils Snaiders and Cheng Tang won 6-4 at first singles and Theodoros Mitsakos and Michael Malkin and Faiz Nasyam and Emiliano Jorquera followed with 6-4 victories of their own at the second and third positions to give UB a 1-0 lead in the match.
Malkin gave the Bulls their first point in singles action with a 6-3, 6-4 win at fourth singles and Jorquera picked up a 6-0, 7-6 victory at the sixth position to put UB up 3-0. UIC got on the board with a win at first singles, but Nasyam answered with an emotional 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(4) win at the fifth position to clinch the match for UB. Snaiders rounded out the scoring for Buffalo with a 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 win at third singles.
"We are so proud of this team," said head coach Lee Nickell. "They continue to handle these tight matches like champions no matter what obstacles they face. We will enjoy this one tonight and get back to preparing for Western Michigan on Thursday."
Up next, Buffalo will remain home for a pair of matches, beginning on Thursday, March 27 as they host Western Michigan at Miller Tennis Center at 1pm.
