Bulls Fall to Bowling Green on Saturday

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team lost to the visiting Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday afternoon, 63-59.
For the fourth time this season, Anquan Boldin Jr. led the Bulls in points with 12. In limited minutes due to foul trouble, Tyson Dunn had a game-high 3 three-pointers. Off the bench, Bryson Wilson led Buffalo in rebounds (12), steals (3) and blocks (1).
The Falcons outshot the Bulls from the floor, 22-fo-52 (42.3%) to 20-for-49 (40.8%). From deep, Buffalo made 8 threes to Bowling Green's 4. For the eighth time this season, the Bulls limited their opponents to 5 or less threes.
After taking a 2-0 lead, the Bulls and Falcons traded blows in the opening minutes of the game. Despite it being a close game, Buffalo's last lead came at the 15:31 mark in the first half after a Dunn three. Bowling Green managed to lead by 8 points at 26-18, but Buffalo went on a 9-2 run to close the half. The Falcons went to the locker room with a 28-27 lead.
Bowling Green held the lead the rest of the game, but Buffalo went down with a fight. Missed opportunities from the free throw line were costly by the Bulls. In the second half, they were 3-for-9 from the charity stripe. The game cam down to the final few possessions as with just under a minute to go, Buffalo made it a 2-point game. A contested layup by the Falcons went in with just 27-seconds left to extend their lead to 61-57. Kavon Bradford cut the lead in half after a layup with 18-seconds remaining. After an attempted steal, the Bulls fouled to put the Falcons at the line. A pair of free throws ice the game for Bowling Green.
The Bulls are back in action on Tuesday as they host the Western Michigan Broncos at 7 p.m.
